Contest Purpose: Design a monster to exist within my character's world. As I wouldn't like to limit your creativity I believe you can create anything that you define as being something monstrous, whether it is humanoid, animal-like, or a plant.

Background: In his world there was a sudden and swift takeover of power in the states, as well as numerous other countries. In something of a holocaust like movement the new government destroyed most of the human population in big cities west of the Mississippi. Those who survived either went east to join what was left of civilization or remained in the toxic west. Those deemed unfit for betterment of society (the deformed, mutated, etc)in the remaining east were imprisoned or killed. This leaves a lot of "unwanted" men and women in the west living out a modern pseudo wild west situation, competing to live among others who didn't want to go to the east or couldn't. Many animals that live in these west areas are still like they are today (many species of birds, coyotes, deer, bears, etc), but many others are the products of mutations. Some suffered only minor differences from breeds we already know (Cas's bull terrier has numerous eyes on one side of her head, but otherwise looks and acts like a normal dog). Others are wild and fantastical, looking like they should belong on other planets. All come in varying sizes, shapes and provide for new hazards for those trying to live out there. The mutations happen in some places due to fictional chemicals, nuclear waste that cause genetic deformities in living entities, and scientific experiments that escaped.

Entry Requirements: Your entry must be created for this contest solely, not another piece you have previously made. You may redesign old concepts or ideas, but please don't enter something you've entered in other contests. And of course, do not steal other's concepts or ideas, I promise I will find out if you do and disqualify your entry. That being said you are open to make your monster in any medium, you can do it in a traditionally, digitally, write a story, sculpt, use makeup to make yourself or a friend into the monster, photography, etc. If you are curious about any of that feel free to contact me. I'd really like for everyone to be able to enter regardless of how you make your art.

As stated before this monster can be humanoid, animal-like, or a plant. The creature can be wild or "domesticated", a mixture of existing animals, humans and plants or something completely new. They can be cute or totally menacing. The only requirement is that it lives in the western part of the US.

You can present your monster in a reference form, or placing it in an environment or situation. But no matter how you make your monster's image please write a short bio about this creature, what it eats, where it lives, how it got there as a species or an individual experiment.
